Welcome! The most important thing in my life is my family and my health, and then, sharing a distant third are my job and my hobby; actually I wish my hobby was also my job, because I love sports. I am passionate about sports in many ways: doing, being a fan, reading, writing, watching, discussing, analyzing, coaching, etc.

However, what most people (at least the people who probably come to this page) care to know about you is what you do for a living and how you got there. For this reason I am including below a summary of the studies I have done and the positions I have held, but if you are interested in something else, please follow the link to see more.

---------- o ----------

I graduated as Computer Engineer from the University Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela (1977).

In my first job I worked for two and a half years for Contec, an Engineering firm, where I developed some complex mathematical models involving Dynamic Programming and Simulation, which I am very proud of because they required not only highly sophisticated technical skills but also a lot of creativity, since they were implemented in a computer with the incredible amount of 32K bytes! of RAM.

In 1980 I made a pause in my professional life, and went to Atlanta, USA, to continue my studies, where in 1982 I obtained my first master's degree, in Operations Research, from Georgia Tech.

Back in Venezuela, in the next 10 years I worked for 4 different employers:

  • Promaster (1983), as a System Analyst. Promaster is a Management Consulting firm.
  • Maraven (former Shell Oil Company) from 1984 to 1987, as a Management Science Analyst (1984-1985), and as a Long Term Planner (1985-1987).
  • Citadel (1987-1992), as a Technical Sales Manager. Citadel is a Representations Agency, which sells machinery for the plastic industry. This equipment is manufactured in Europe and the U.S.
  • Keisai (1992-1993), as a Management Consultant, mainly analyzing the feasibility and probability of success of several Venture Capital projects. For a period of six months I held the jobs of Sales Manager and Purchases Manager simultaneously of one of those companies which we were trying to manage and then buy.

At this point I decided to made a change of career, and moved back to the U.S., where I obtained my second master's degree, this one in Instructional Technology (Computer-Based Education) from the University of Georgia in Athens, in 1996.

Since then I have been working for the University of Georgia in two main areas: development of Instructional Multimedia Software, and development of Web-based Distance Education online courses.

Currently, I design, develop, and publish instructional material on the web, working as a Web Course Designer and Developer for the Web Instructional Development department of the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
